CIRCLE LEFT/RIGHT

Dancers join hands to form a circle, face slightly left or right as directed and move forward around the circle the distance directed. If no distance is specified, dancers go one full time around the circle and end up back where they started. When left or right is not specified for circle, it is a circle to the left. Since the starting position is a square, and in a square the couples are already holding hands, when the dancers join hands at the beginning of the figure it is only the corners that have a NEW handhold. At the end of the circle, the corners drop hands although the couples maintain them.
